Sleep Disorder, a disorder that has slowly crept into the number of lives you can never imagine. 

Good Sleep is necessary for good physical and good mental health. Fluctuations in sleeping patterns can cause adverse medical and mental dysfunctions.

The situations such as the pandemic which opened doors for a lot of various problems in everyone’s life have increased the cases of sleep disorders.

According to research by Cleveland Clinic 70 million Americans suffer from different forms of sleep disorders. While Insomnia, a popular form of sleep disorder, has affected approximately 35%- 50% of the population. 



Dr. Harish, a psychologist from Bengaluru, broadly classifies sleep disorders into three types





He further explains the solution to the disorders," Although many drugs will help people to overcome sleep disorders, it is not advisable and it does not work for everyone. The best and most effective way to overcome sleep disorders is to manage sleep hygiene. The basic rules for sleep hygiene are to wake up and sleep at the same time every day, keeping phones away at night is really helpful but only a few people follow this, meals should be consumed at regular intervals and heavy meals should be avoided after seven in the night and warm bath before bedtime is an effective method. If these rules are followed, one can get better at fixing their sleep problems


Recovering from a sleep disorder can be a tedious task but once recovered it is the best thing that can happen to you, Mr. Shamsuddin shares his journey of recovery, “I was stubborn on not consuming sleeping pills because it has many side effects and I did not want to be a victim of it. The advice of keeping rose and tuberose in the room while trying to fall asleep was really effective. I started practicing yoga every day. All these factors have helped me overcome sleep-related problems.”
